  1. “We’re not talking about a bunch of tech-savvy people…”

    “…unless we’re talking about TekSavvy”.

    Line of the YEAR.

  2. “Tethering is a feature of iPhone 3GS”

…well it’s actually a feature of OS 3.0. Big difference.

  3. For the record, I already knew how to set up an ad-hoc WiFi network using pdaNET 😛 BUT the free version kept driopping out.

ALSO, BELL did the Couch thing first. It was kicking around the Leo Burnett studio MONTHS before the Rogers one launched. And the Bell Couch launched as a web banner LONG before it launched as outdoor print.

And yes, its usage in each version is rad-tarded.

  4. “Apple’s ad always make fun of somebody else”.

SO true. But their product is a fashion product, and the fashionista should never be self-depricating. They’re the Avis of our time; “We have to try better…we’re number 2.”

  5. ” A clever ad campaign isn’t going to make much of a difference to people like you & me”

True, the informed consumer will not be affected by mass advertising. But the definition of the informed consumer lies on a HUGE curve. For a large %, “informed” means “I want a big screen and a compueter that will do internets fast.” Somewhere in between lies factors like OS prefefence, appearances/style, et al.

  6. I must correct myself:

ROGERS did the couch thing first.

“The battle waged on a common couch started June 1, when Rogers launched an ad campaign with a two-seater, half red, half blue, saying its home phone service was a better buy – $25 less – than Bell’s.

Bell reacted quickly and launched the couch ad by June 16, this time with five blue cushions and one red, its way of expanding the conversation. ”

I guess I just saw the Bell stuff kicking around well before launch day, so my dates got crossed. I certainly knew what Bell was doing well before I saw what Rogers was doing, so that’s my excuse.

    Sorry 🙂

    1. So do you think it’s a matter of coincidence or one knowing what the other was up to?
